Bruno Cote (1940-2010)
Bruno Cote (1940-2010) is recognized as one of Canada's most accomplished contemporary painters and his paintings are part of museums and private collections all over the world.
In 2008 the Canadian Parliament gave Bruno Cote's painting "The Portage Trail" to the Parliament of Scotland to mark the opening of the Scottish Parliament Building.
"Cote uses the great variety of colours found in nature while his strong brush strokes express the rough textures of trees, rocks and mountains. A master of light and shadow, Cote captures the heart and soul of Canada in his paintings", wrote Claire Scrivens in a biography published on the website of the artist.
"The wild beauty of the Pacific Rim in British Columbia, the heat of the icebergs of Labrador, the vastness of the prairie skies, the savage force of the North and the magnificent forests of Quebec are all loves that are now rooted in the work of the painter", wrote Martin Fournier in a biography published on the website of the artist.
